When This Medicine Should Not Be Used:
Do not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to nadolol, bendroflumethiazide, or a sulfonamide (sulfa) drug. Do not use this medicine if you are not able to urinate, or if you have asthma or certain heart problems. Talk with your doctor about what these heart problems are.

How to Use This Medicine:
Tablet

• Take your medicine as directed. Your dose may need to be changed several times to find what works best for you.
• Carefully follow your doctor's instructions about any special diet.

Drugs and Foods to Avoid:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

• Make sure your doctor knows if you are using amphotericin B (Fungizone®), a calcium supplement, diazoxide (Hyperstat®, Proglyceum®), digoxin (Lanoxin®), lithium (Eskalith®, Lithobid®), methenamine (Hiprex®, Urex®), reserpine, other blood pressure medicine (such as atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol, Bystolic®, Tenormin®), another diuretic (water pills, such as furosemide, Lasix®), insulin, or diabetes medicine that you take by mouth (such as glimepiride, glyburide, metformin, Actos®, Janumet®, Januvia®). Tell your doctor if you are also using a steroid (such as hydrocortisone, methylprednisolone, prednisolone, prednisone), a blood thinner (such as warfarin, Coumadin®, Jantoven®), medicine to treat gout (such as allopurinol, colchicine, probenecid, Benemid®, Zyloprim®), an NSAID pain or arthritis medicine (such as aspirin, diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen, Advil®, Aleve®, Celebrex®, Voltaren®), or an MAO inhibitor (such as Eldepryl®, Marplan®, Nardil®, Parnate®).
• If you are also taking cholestyramine (Questran®) or colestipol (Colestid®), take Corzide® at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after these medicines.
• Alcohol, narcotic pain relievers, or sleeping pills may cause you to feel more lightheaded, dizzy, or faint when used with this medicine. Tell your doctor if you drink alcohol or use pain relievers or sleeping pills.

Warnings While Using This Medicine:

• Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, heart disease, diabetes, gout, lung problems (such as chronic bronchitis or emphysema), lupus, mineral imbalance (such as high calcium or low magnesium, potassium, or sodium in the blood), thyroid problems, or a history of allergies or asthma.
• This medicine may worsen the symptoms of heart failure in some patients. Tell your doctor right away if you have trouble breathing, uneven heartbeat, rapid weight gain, or swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs.
• Do not stop using this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will need to slowly decrease your dose before you stop it completely.
• Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. This medicine may affect certain medical test results.
• This medicine may make you dizzy, drowsy, or lightheaded. Avoid driving, using machines, or doing anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.
• Do not stop using the medicine without asking your doctor, even if you feel well. This medicine will not cure your high blood pressure, but it will help keep it in normal range. You may have to take blood pressure medicine for the rest of your life.
• Make sure any doctor or dentist who treats you knows that you are using this medicine.
• Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.

Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:

• Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
• Confusion, weakness, or muscle twitching
• Dry mouth, increased thirst, muscle cramps, nausea or vomiting, uneven heartbeat
• Fast, very slow, pounding, or uneven heartbeat
• Lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
• Swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet, rapid weight gain
• Trouble breathing, cold sweat, or bluish-colored skin
• Unusual tiredness or weakness, restlessness
• Worsening chest pain

If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:

• Mild dizziness or tiredness
