When This Medicine Should Not Be Used: This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to potassium or if you have severe kidney disease. |
How to Use This Medicine: Granule, Kit, Tablet, Powder, Fizzy Tablet, Long Acting Tablet, Long Acting Capsule, Liquid, Capsule - Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.
- Follow the instructions on the medicine label if you are using this medicine without a prescription.
- Take with food or right after eating.
- Powder or effervescent tablet: Mix with water before using. Most powders and tablets must be mixed with at least 4 ounces (1/2 cup) of water or juice, but your specific medicine might have different directions. Drink the mixture right after you mix it.
- Extended-release tablet or capsule: Swallow with a full glass of water. Do not chew or crush.
- Measure the oral liquid medicine with a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup.
- Carefully follow your doctor's instructions about any special diet.
- Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine: Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects: - Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Bloody or black, tarry stools
- Confusion, weakness, uneven heartbeat, trouble breathing, numbness in your hands, feet, or lips
- Severe stomach pain or vomiting
