He may tell you not to eat or drink anything after midnight on the day of your surgery. He will tell you what medicines to take or not take on the day of your surgery. What will happen during surgery? Your surgeon will make an incision in your penis and place the implant into the shaft of your penis. If you have an inflatable implant, the pump will be placed inside your scrotum and attached to the implant. A drain may be placed to remove extra blood or fluid from your surgery area. The incisions will be closed with stitches and covered with a bandage. What are the risks of surgery? You may bleed more than expected or get an infection. Your prostate or bladder may be damaged during surgery. Your penis may not look the way you thought it would. You may have trouble urinating or have swelling or numbness in your penis.
