NEWBORN X-RAY

(NEC - NECROTISING ENTEROCOLITIS)
Newborn X-ray

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

What do I need to know about a newborn x-ray? An x-ray may be needed to show problems that are hard to see during a physical exam. An x-ray can be done on any area of your baby's body.

What will happen during the x-ray? Your baby will be placed on a table and positioned depending on which body area needs an x-ray. The rest of your baby's body will be covered to protect him from the x-ray beam. You may need to leave the room while the pictures are taken.

What are the risks of an x-ray? Your baby will be exposed to a low amount of radiation. Radiation can harm body cells.

CARE AGREEMENT:

You have the right to help plan your baby's care. Learn about your baby's health condition and how it may be treated. Discuss treatment options with your baby's caregivers to decide what care you want for your baby.
